Red Squirrel Appreciation Day!

The 21st January of every year is Red Squirrel Appreciation Day. It’s an easy appreciation to adopt in fact it’s pretty difficult not to like them every day.

We are lucky enough to get them in the garden as the grey squirrels haven’t invaded our corner of the world yet.

As the day reminds us that shouting ‘Squirrels!’ isn’t just about those of us with a limited attention span – it is also about our little furry friends. The ground is hard up here in the Northern Hemisphere and there’s not a lot of food about. If you are lucky enough to have some red squirrels as neighbours you can help them out by leaving out some nuts.
